Faux Fabric Faux Fabric Tartan

This is our design using tartan: overlapping horizontal and vertical bands of varying widths. Despite its use of reds and yellows, the exquisite color selection means the overall motif remains pleasantly subdued. The pattern is printed onto a material chosen to give the feel of a coarsely woven shirt. The cover opens to a calming brown on the inside for a relaxing backdrop to the planner. It’s a design that suitable for – and popular with – both men and women.

Important information

Colors on the screen may differ from actual product
Actual products are featured in all posted photographs, but please note that colors may vary slightly from how it appears on your computer monitor.
All covers are hand-made and may contain slight variances
Each and every cover is individually sewn by a factory worker hand-operating a sewing machine. Best efforts are made to ensure consistent sizes and specifications, but as these products are hand-made, covers are not made as exact copies.
Print material characteristics
The polyester material used in print covers involve printing a design over white material, so the sewing process may expose white areas around the stitches.
Please note that on rare occasions, there may be small black or white dots visible on the print, but this is an unavoidable aspect of the manufacturing process.
Outer pocket patterns
The outer pocket is designed to align with the pattern beneath it, but pattern alignments may be imperfect due to the manual production process.
Water-resistant surfaces of covers
Covers have undergone processing for water resistance to reduce smudges and water stains, but this effect gradually wears off over time.
Bookmark threads may be white
The two bookmarks were originally white and have been dyed,so stitching may expose an inner white portion where the dye did not reach.
Cleaning a dirty cover
If you feel the surface of your cover has become dirty, we recommend dabbing the cover with a clean cloth dampened with diluted neutral detergent. Please do not use any kind of dryer on the material, as it may shrink, and air-dry it indoors or in the shade.
Using Cover on Cover
The PVC plastic of the Cover on Cover may lose elasticity and become difficult to put on when left in cold temperatures.
If this happens, we recommend letting the product sit in a warm area before applying to your cover. Please be careful when handling your Cover on Cover in cold temperatures, as it becomes more susceptible to damages if dropped or handled roughly.
New covers are slightly rigid before use
Depending on the material of your cover, it may be slightly rigid upon arrival. You may have a slightly difficult time inserting your planner or closing the cover, but when you use the cover as usual, it will naturally break in and grow comfortable over time.
Inserting your planner into your cover
When inserting your planner book into your cover, it will be easier to begin by sliding the left side of the book into the left pocket, and then inserting the right side.
Pen holder (“butterfly clasp”)
Hobonichi Techo covers come with pen holders that keep the pages shut. This holder may be rigid upon
initial use, making pen insertion slightly difficult, but kneading the pen holder open will make it easier to use.
Depending on the material of the cover, pens with rubber grips may be difficult to slide into the holder.
Using fountain pens
Writing on the planner’s Tomoe River paper with a fountain pen may result in ink bleeds or transfers from wet ink.
When using water-based inks, we recommend testing the pen on an inconspicuous place in the book before using.
