Hobonichi Techo Shopping Instructions

The Hobonichi Store ships from Japan to the world.

Introduction

The Hobonichi Techo Official Store is part of the Japanese-language website Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun, or “Hobonichi.” Covering subjects from the whimsical to the reflective, the website is an online magazine updated every day with articles such as interviews and essays.

The Hobonichi Techo Official Store is the place to buy the Hobonichi Techo, the Hobonichi 5-Year Techo, and accessories designed to work well with the Hobonichi Techo.

*All Hobonichi Store orders require an account to complete a purchase. New accounts can only be made at the time of a purchase.

Payment methods

International

Orders shipping to destinations outside of Japan will go through a cross-border eCommerce service called Global-e.

There are over 150 payment methods available from around the world so that overseas customers will be able to make purchases using payment methods they use on a daily basis.
It’s also possible to prepay customs duties and taxes upon checkout. These fees can be calculated and added to your total payment at the time of purchase rather than at the time of delivery.

Convenience Store Payment / Bank Transfer

A payment form will be included in the package with the merchandise. Please submit your payment at a convenience store, postal bank, or post office within 14 days of order delivery.

Cash on Delivery

An additional handling fee of 220 yen will be added to the order. Cash only. Some products may not be eligible for cash on delivery.

Shipping services and delivery

Orders will be shipped no sooner than the following business day. Due to the influx of orders during the new lineup launch, products may temporarily take as many as 10 business days to ship. (Restocked items may take even longer. Shipping times are listed on each product page.) Thank you for your understanding. We will inform you by e-mail as soon as the specific shipping time is decided.

International

We ship international orders using FedEx.

Domestic

Domestic orders are shipped with Sagawa Express (Hikyaku Express). You can choose from the delivery time windows below.

You can specify a delivery time upon checkout. The range of available dates changes by season. If you would like to specify a preferred delivery time, please select from the list of available dates displayed during checkout.
The delivery time request function may be unavailable during busy seasons. If there are no dates available to choose from, the delivery time request function is not available. If there is no specified delivery time, the package will be shipped as soon as possible.

Shipping fees

International

Shipping fees for international orders depend on the delivery destination and order contents. You can check the actual shipping fee on the final confirmation screen before confirming your order.

Domestic

Orders placed within Japan have a flat shipping fee of 770 yen (tax included).

Free Domestic ShippingWhen shipping within Japan, if your order total (including tax) is 11,000 yen or greater, shipping (normally 770 yen) will be free.

Gift wrap information

There are 2 gift wrap services available.

Hobonichi Techo Gift Bag

We’re selling gift bags separately that you can use to wrap gifts yourself. There are two sizes available to accommodate varying gift contents.

Gift wrap

Customers can request a gift box for an additional 550 yen per order. The entire order will be placed into the gift box together.

Returns and exchanges

Returns for personal reasons

Customers can return items within 14 days of delivery. Shipping fees will be the responsibility of the customer.

Returning/exchanging defective products

We carefully inspect all products, but on the off chance you receive a defective product, we will provide an exchange or a refund. Please contact us within 14 days of delivery.

Restock notification email

When a product is sold out, you can sign up to receive a restock notification email. If the product has been confirmed for a restock, you will receive an email notifying you of the planned restock date.

*This service is only available for the Hobonichi Techo and the Drawer Pouch. Restock notification emails are not available for accessories.
*Restock notification emails are not a guarantee that an item will successfully restock or that you will definitely be able to purchase the item.
*Some high demand products may sell out shortly after the restock is released.

Favorites

You can add products to your favorites list from the lineup page or individual product pages.

*An account (free) is required to purchase products from your favorites list.

Things to Consider before Buying

Product colors may vary slightly from images on your computer or smartphone screen due to display settings.

Cover sizes and colors may vary slightly between products. Best efforts are made to ensure consistent sizes and specifications, but slight differences are inevitable because the covers are assembled by hand.
