For the first time the Franklin Badge, a crucial item that shows up in all three MOTHER games, is on sale. (Previously it has only been available as a promotional item or part of a deluxe box set.) In the MOTHER series the Franklin Badge is able to reflect lightning; it’s even featured as a powerful item in the Super Smash Bros. series.
Because this was the first time we would be offering the Franklin Badge as a standalone product, we wanted to make sure it was something boys and girls could treasure even as they grew into adulthood.
The badge has a sturdy weight to it, not unlike commemorative medals that are designed to change in appearance over time. We wanted to balance that sense of ruggedness with a luxurious feel.
The pins are created using a traditional cloisonne technique by Proof of Guild, a handmade-jewelry shop and studio in Nagoya.
The cloisonne process has so many steps, and requires so much time and effort, that different parts of the work are delegated to a number of hard-working craftsmen. Since all the badges are handmade, each one is unique.
