Ryushi Makino curates Japan’s highest-quality textiles for the top brands across the world in fashion and sports. For four years his famous “Makino Collection” series was featured in popular Hobonichi Techo covers, from 2009 to 2012. The collection returns in the 2020 lineup, with covers featuring textiles recommended by Makino.
At the center of Lily of the Valley is a pale navy textile that blends cotton with linen. Woven into the fabric are images of cute Lily of the Valley flowers, as well as cloudlike puffs that give this cover a textured feel.
Look closely and you’ll see diagonal lines in the pattern. The techniques used to weave this fabric give it a sharp feel without losing its cute look.
This intricate fabric has textured elements, but these white puff-balls are not sewn into the textile afterwards — they’re included at the time of manufacturing. As long as you do not pull at the fabric too strongly, these spots will not fall off of the cover.
The cover interior is made with faux leather, and the material placed between this and the thin cover fabric gives the cover a soft feel.
With a field of blooming Lily of the Valley flowers at your side, you’ll always have something to put your mind at ease.

The patterned fabric has not been aligned to a specific layout, so the placement of each design will vary by product. The product will not be an exact replica of the one in the product photographs.
- Cover may contain variations in stitching or loose lining
When this cover is open flat, exterior stitching areas may appear puckered and lining material may be loose.
- Not for use with Cover on Cover
This cover uses thicker materials than usual, so it may not fit. Forcing it into a Cover on Cover may damage the products.
- Pen holders are rigid at first
The pen holders are rigid at first, making it difficult to insert pens. You can speed up the breaking-in process by rolling the pen holders in your hand.
- No outer pocket
This cover does not contain an outer pocket.
- Pen holder fits pens up to 13.5 mm wide
The pen holder is designed to perfectly fit the 12.2 mm (0.48”) diameter Jetstream pen offered as a free Hobonichi Store Exclusive. Pens with certain shapes and materials may be difficult to pull through the holder. The holder can fit pens up to 13.5 mm (0.53”) in diameter.
- Avoid storing in hot and humid places
Please avoid storing your product in hot, humid places or placing it atop other objects for long periods of time as this may result in lower quality and color stains.
