This cover is produced by Arts&Science, a brand and shop led by Sonya Park, who is also the creative director of the Hobonichi Techo Planner. This year’s Arts&Science cover is made with goat leather.
Goat leather is supple and flexible, with a distinctly soft, smooth texture. It hides scratches and markings well, and it’s thin, light, and stronger than cow leather, making it perfect for a techo cover.
The greatest charm to these covers comes from the strong definition of the wrinkles on their surface. The unique texture gives the cover a beautiful and expressive look.
The cover’s deep color scheme, applied during the production process, is also a strong draw.
Purple Blue is an elegant, sophisticated shade of purple, with a strong blue hue and a nice gloss.
The cover includes a classic, cool black-nickel clasp to hold it shut. Keeping the edges rounded makes the cover easier to pull out, open, and close.
The interior includes a pen hook that can hold a pen by its clip.
The cover also includes simple bookmarks using the same material as the cover.
This top-quality cover is completely made in Japan, from the leather tanning to the sewing. Using the cover for a long time will give its surface the deep transformation that comes from high-quality leather.

As the leather dyed is unbleached and undyed to start with, there are variances in the color of the leather. Additionally, the color will vary depending on the levels of heat conduction during a process in which heat is applied.
- Leather may contain visible wrinkles, scratches, stains, or vein marks.
This product uses delicate leather that accentuates the natural qualities of the material There may be unavoidable marks in the leather that occurred during the manufacturing process. There also may be original imperfections visible on the surface of the leather, such as wrinkles, scratches, stains, or vein marks. We ask for your understanding for these naturally-occurring characteristics of genuine leather, and hope you enjoy the material as these imperfections come to stand out less over time.
- Leather coloring stains
Dyed leather products tend to leave stains. Please be careful not to allow the leather to adhere or rub against other objects such as clothing or other belongings, especially if the bag is wet from water or sweat from your hands.
- Avoid storing in hot and humid places
Please avoid storing your product in hot, humid places or placing it atop other objects for long periods of time as this may result in lower quality and color stains.
- Pen holders are rigid at first
The pen holders are rigid at first, making it difficult to insert pens. You can speed up the breaking-in process by rolling the pen holders in your hand.
- Pen holder fits pens up to 13.5 mm wide
The pen holder is designed to perfectly fit the 12.2 mm (0.48”) diameter Jetstream pen offered as a free Hobonichi Store Exclusive. Pens with certain shapes and materials may be difficult to pull through the holder. The holder can fit pens up to 13.5 mm (0.53”) in diameter.
