This Weeks cover is based on the classic Czech children’s book All About Doggie and Pussycat by painter and author Josef Čapek.
On the cover, Doggie and Pussycat are shown baking a cake. In addition to the flour, milk, and eggs, they add their favorite things, such as onions, pickles, spicy sausage... how on earth will it turn out?
The cover has been constructed as a light, hardcover book with some give to it so it still bends.
The background is an off-white color and the year 2022 and book spine are an energetic shade of red. The year has a little texture to it as a nice touch.
The back of the cover shows the author Čapek visiting Doggie and Pussycat’s house. On the bottom left is Josef Čapek’s signature and an imprint of a Hobonichi logo.
By using a limited number of colors, the design is cute and looks chic when carried around. With this book, you can enjoy the year ahead of you just like Doggie and Pussycat, who don’t fit into a mold and come up with their own unconventional ideas with their free thinking.

About Josef Čapek
Czech painter and author (1887-1945). Born in Hronov, Bohemia and studied at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. Provided the illustrations and bookbinding for Nine Fairy Tales and other books by younger brother Karel Čapek. In addition to writing plays and short stories with Karel, he also wrote art criticism and children's literature.

- Test fountain pens before regular use
The Hobonichi Techo's Tomoe River paper is designed to prevent bleed-through, but some fountain pens and water-based ink pens are not compatible with this paper. When switching to a new pen, we recommend testing the pen somewhere in the book, such as the back memo pages, to see if the ink bleeds through or takes an especially long time to dry.
- Cover corners are slightly bumpy and shiny
The corners of the cover contain light traces of press marks, shines, and lumps. This is an unavoidable part of the manufacturing process.
- Imprinted year numbers may peel
The numbers of the year are stamped onto the cover in metallic or other colored leaf, so strong rubbing or everyday use may cause the numbers to peel off.
- Avoid storing in hot and humid places
Please avoid storing your product in hot, humid places or placing it atop other objects for long periods of time as this may result in lower quality and color stains.
