Stylist Masako Ito produces the Weeksdays project, which has its own articles and online shop within Hobonichi. The online shop includes exclusive products that aren’t sold anywhere else. The shop name combines “weeks” and “days” to express hopes that customers have something fun happen every day in their lives.
This is the first daily desktop calendar to be offered for Weeksdays. Masako Ito both photographed and chose the images included on each of the 365 pages for this 2023 calendar, which are printed in a simple layout alongside the date and day of the week.
The format is sure to be nostalgic for those who recognize it, as it nearly matches the size and shape of a Polaroid photo. The pages may be thinner than one, but when you first start using this desktop calendar the total thickness of all the pages together comes out to about 3 cm (1.2”). You can either set the calendar flat on your desk or assemble the stand that’s available by slits on the chipboard on the back of the calendar.
This daily desktop calendar contains 365 pages of photographs that span about five years of my photography work. They capture special moments I encountered all over the world, including Tokyo, Kyoto, Paris, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hawaii, and more.
I had a great time working on this, because not only did I get to go through my enormous camera roll of photos, I also picked out the order in which they appear in the calendar’s pages. It reminded me of the kind of homework we used to get in school over summer vacation.
One page per day. Once you tear off a page, you can decide whether to use it as a memo page to jot down a note, or tape the image up on your wall. I’m personally looking forward to the ways I’ll be using this calendar.
The compact Polaroid photo size makes it easy to keep on a work desk, on a dresser, in the corner of a shelf on a bookshelf, at the front door, or any other place where you don’t want to take up too much space. It also makes a great gift.
