This Hobonichi Techo HON is made with a beautiful printed textile from the venerable British fabric brand Liberty Fabrics.
The Hobonichi Techo HON has a hardcover design already attached to the book. It’s designed to make you feel like you’re carrying around a favorite book, which you can pull out at any time to make notes no matter where you are. The book has A6 size pages and features a page per day, so the contents are the same as the Hobonichi Techo Original.
Emma and Georgina is one of the patterns in the “Classic Style” theme of the 2011 Fall/Winter collection, based on patterns released in 1970 and 2001. It is a colorful floral pattern reminiscent of Liberty prints, with flowers of various colors and shapes, such as vermilion, blue, purple, and yellowish green, scattered throughout.
The HON has two attached bookmarks—one navy and one beige—so you can mark your place in frequently used pages.
The book spine is foil-pressed in gold with the year 2024 and the HON logo for easy reference when placed in your bookshelf alongside other books.
The bookbinding on the HON has thread-stitch binding similar to the Hobonichi Techo Original, so it opens 180 degrees onto the table. It stays flat even if you don’t hold it down.
The book uses thin and light yet durable Tomoe River S paper. The paper has supported the Hobonichi Techo for over 20 years with its special characteristics, but it’ll be undergoing an overhaul starting with the 2024 edition techos. The paper is more resistant to bleed through, lighter despite being almost the same thickness, and has a crisper surface by adjusting the fibers of the paper.
The back of the book has informational pages, including An Interview with Myself, Seasonal Sweets to Make at Home, and Caring for Your Eyes.
As a special exclusive only for the HON, this techo comes with a pencil board. The board is A6 size and clear, with 5mm grid lines printed across it. There are measurements printed along one side in 1mm increments, which allow for use as a ruler. This is also a new type of pencil board, as it has a pen holder attached to it where users can store pens by their clips.
The Hobonichi Techo HON comes in either Japanese or English. If you love this cover, then you can pick out which language you’d like in that book.
Liberty Fabrics is a fabric brand from England. Founded in 1875 by Arthur Lasenby Liberty (1843-1917), who discovered the beauty of Japanese art during a World’s Fair in London in the 19th century.
The company originated as a small import shop with oriental ornaments and fabrics. The delicate silk and intricate hand-dyed art were praised by followers of the Aesthetic Movement, and in the 1880s, Liberty began printing high-quality cotton textiles as a way to recreate sturdy versions of the delicate Eastern silks.
In the 1920s, Liberty developed their original “Tana Lawn” cotton material, which looks and feels like silk and has a lightweight structure that allows it to drape beautifully. Liberty has created intricate prints bursting with color and complex designs ever since.

In order to provide you with the most satisfaction for your product, we've compiled a list of warnings, potential issues, and tips to keep in mind for this particular product. Please be sure to read this information carefully before placing your order.
The Hobonichi Techo's Tomoe River / Tomoe River S paper is designed to prevent bleed-through, but some fountain pens and water-based ink pens are not compatible with this paper. When switching to a new pen, we recommend testing the pen somewhere in the book, such as the back memo pages, to see if the ink bleeds through or takes an especially long time to dry.
Characteristics of materials and product design may result in white spots on the edges and corners of the front and back. The corners of the cover contain light traces of press marks, shines, and lumps. This is an unavoidable part of the manufacturing process.
The cover of the HON book is thicker and firmer than that of the Hobonichi Techo book. It cannot be used with a Techo cover designed for the standard Hobonichi Techo book. The Cover on Cover designed for standard Hobonichi Techo covers also will not fit the HON. Please use the Clear Cover for HON. Please do not use excessive force when applying the cover as this may cause damage.
The pen hook on the pencil board can hold a pen by its clip.
