Select shop and brand Arts&Science owner Sonya Park directed the creation of this English-language Hobonichi Techo book, which has been refined and simplified to make it easy to use in all countries and languages. The refined layout, the color scheme of charcoal gray and red, and the bonus pages exclusive to the Planner are part of its charm.
The book has a matte cover subtly engraved with the Japanese characters for “techo” alongside the Arts&Science logo.
The book spine is foil-pressed in gold with the year 2024 and the “HOBO” logo for easy reference when placed in your bookshelf alongside other books.
The book has the same thread-stitch binding as a dictionary, allowing it to lay flat open for comfortable writing. It stays flat even if you don’t hold it down.
The book uses thin and light yet durable Tomoe River S paper. The paper has supported the Hobonichi Techo for over 20 years with its special characteristics, but it’ll be undergoing an overhaul starting with the 2024 edition techos. The paper is more resistant to bleed through, lighter despite being the same thickness, and has a smoother surface by adjusting the fibers of the paper.
The daily pages include a quote per two-page spread specially chosen from its parent site, the Japanese web magazine Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun, and words of Arts&Science owner Sonya Park.
Other than the daily pages with lots of space to write, the book contains several sections that are great for schedule management, such as a yearly calendar, monthly calendar, and yearly index page. The back of the book has bonus pages, including An Interview with Myself and Okonomiyaki ― Japanese-Style Savory Pancakes. In anticipation of this book being used in various countries around the world, the calendars do not list holidays.

We also have the “Hobonichi Pencil Board” fitted for the A6 Original size. Not only does it keep pens from slipping and makes writing more manageable, but it also serves as a bookmark for the page that you are writing. It’s a standard item that would excellently match your techo.
The English edition Hobonichi Techo Original book debuted in the Hobonichi Techo 2024 lineup. This book has the same design as the Japanese version of the Hobonichi Techo Original book, which is the most standard type in our lineup, but in English. We recommend this book if you would like to try out the basic format of the Hobonichi Techo.

In order to provide you with the most satisfaction for your product, we've compiled a list of warnings, potential issues, and tips to keep in mind for this particular product. Please be sure to read this information carefully before placing your order.
We would like to inform you of an error that has come to our attention regarding the ruler on the Conversion Table in the back of the 2024 edition Hobonichi Techo Planner book. The page was supposed to be printed at 100% size, but was printed at 97.2% size, resulting in an inaccurate ruler. We deeply apologize for this oversight.
The Hobonichi Techo's Tomoe River / Tomoe River S paper is designed to prevent bleed-through, but some fountain pens and water-based ink pens are not compatible with this paper. When switching to a new pen, we recommend testing the pen somewhere in the book, such as the back memo pages, to see if the ink bleeds through or takes an especially long time to dry.
Please note that we will not replace the packaging for the products if it has rips or damage.
