PYTTokyo in bloom/rabbitsA5 Cousin Size

At Hobonichi, we pursue the aesthetic sense of designers and always seek Hobonichi Techo collaborations with brands that make special products with a great attention to detail.

The clothing brand BYT began by making one-of-a-kind clothes by hand, and has since created PYT, a prêt-à-porter (ready-to-wear) high quality clothing line.

The brand has attracted many fans through its use of colors, piping, and all the tiny details made with great care to add a nice spice to the outfit. The designs are fresh yet timeless.

The Tokyo in bloom/rabbits cover is a design created by designer Kamiya, who has previously worked internationally. Kamiya created this design when stuck in Tokyo during the stay-at-home order for COVID quarantine. Losing that freedom brought Kamiya to create a design that focused on local flowers and pet shop rabbits that were on the path to the art studio, which provided a much-needed comfort.

The shaded gray background is dotted with evenly spaced polka dots. Among that is an intricate embroidered design containing stark black and sparkling silver threads.

Threads appear as fringes on the edge of the design from the way the material makes use of the back of the fabric. That gives the material the effect of blurred contours and a three-dimensional look that’s quite memorable. The larger surface of the Cousin size cover allows you to thoroughly enjoy the textile.

The round zipper pull provides an accent to the cover and includes the debossed PYT logo.

The bookmarks are pink and gray, and the playful charms on the bookmarks contain a triangle and a circle.

The cover interior has a fun color combination with a beige card pocket and a larger pink pocket that opens wide. The mesh pocket has a deep pink hue that also gives a nice effect to the look.

This techo cover encompasses all of the charm of the PYT brand in a design that’s stylish and fresh in a way that will withstand other trends.

In the Hobonichi Techo 2025 lineup, the Cousin book comes in either English or Japanese.

*The English book is only available as the January-start version.

The Creation Process of the Design

The Tokyo in bloom/rabbit began with a hand-drawn illustration by designer Kamiya. The lines and symmetrical dots surrounding the motif provided a nice accent to the design. One day, textile company Uni Textile in Osaka approached Kamiya with a jacquard fabric and said "Look, we've got a really interesting fabric." That was right around the time Kamiya had created the illustration, which spurred the inspiration to bring the design to life on that new fabric. Once the lines and dots were added to the flower and rabbit motif on the jacquard fabric, it came together into a cute and sharply detailed design that was very unique. So, by two creators coming together and communicating, the concept bloomed into what became the Tokyo in bloom/rabbit design.

    PYT

PYT is a prêt-à-porter (ready-to-wear) line by Tokyo-based “BYT,” an apparel project focused on handmade apparel. BYT began holding local runway shows after being invited to Vancouver Fashion Week in 2018. The brand embodies the beauty of everyday life without being bound by national borders (some of their creations are made in Paris, where they work occasionally) or the cycle of the fashion industry. A studio is set up on the banks of the Shibuya River, and showrooms are opened on an irregular basis.

    Please Read Before You Buy

In order to provide you with the most satisfaction for your product, we've compiled a list of warnings, potential issues, and tips to keep in mind for this particular product. Please be sure to read this information carefully before placing your order.

Actual specifications may vary from listing

Each item is individually assembled and sewn by hand by a factory worker. Best efforts are made to ensure consistent sizes and specifications, but there may be slight differences.

    Pattern alignment varies by product

The patterned fabric has not been aligned to a specific layout, so the placement of each design will vary by product. The product will not be an exact replica of the one in the product photographs.

About the outer fabric (PYT/Tokyo in bloom/rabbits)

The fabric design is created by weaving various types of threads with different thicknesses and materials. Therefore, the appearance of the thread is not uniform, and on some products it may resemble a line. This is an unavoidable characteristic of the fabric.

    Outer material frays easily

Threads on the outer material may fray if they catch on sharp objects or are tugged too strongly, so please handle with care.

Pen holders are rigid at first

The pen holders are rigid at first, making it difficult to insert pens. You can speed up the breaking-in process by rolling the pen holders in your hand.

Pen holder fits pens up to 13.5 mm wide

The pen holder is designed to perfectly fit the 12.2 mm (0.48”) diameter Jetstream pen offered as a free Hobonichi Store Exclusive. Pens with certain shapes and materials may be difficult to pull through the holder. The holder can fit pens up to 13.5 mm (0.53”) in diameter.

Avoid storing in hot and humid places

Please avoid storing your product in hot, humid places or placing it atop other objects for long periods of time as this may result in lower quality and color stains.

    Sharp objects may unravel threads

This delicate textile may contain threads protruding from the material or especially the stitching areas. Please be careful not to catch sharp items under them as they may unravel. Be especially careful to avoid snagging with fingernails, rings, watches and other accessories, button fasteners or zippers on bags, rough-surfaced items, pen tips and writing tools, or other pointed surfaces.
