The Hobonichi 5-Year Techo Gift Set is a perfect gift set for the Hobonichi 5-Year Techo that comes with a specially made embroidered cover, pencil board, and a small card, all neatly arranged in a beautiful box. This year, we are bringing a new box in which embroidery artist and illustrator iyo okumi designed the cover and pencil board for. The theme of this set is “haconiwa,” which means “miniature garden” in Japanese.
Inside the box is another turquoise blue box that contains the regular sized Hobonichi 5-Year Techo (2025-2029), its cover, a pencil board, and iyo okumi’s brand card.
Specially made for this set is a linen cover machine-embroidered with iyo okumi’s design of a beautiful miniature garden. The pattern designed by okumi was machine-embroidered. The bright green garden is filled with white and yellow flowers blooming here and there. Look closely to find animals as well. The storybook-like scenery matches the delicate embroidery well, creating a romantic atmosphere.
At the center of this garden is its residence, sitting down and reading a book.
The back cover has cute butterflies fluttering around.
The cover comes with a pale yellow bookmark that has a tassel at the end.
The pen hook on the inside right of the cover can hold a pen by its clip.
The pencil board is illustrated with the garden in colored pencil. You’ll find a beautiful leopard on the top left.
We also put a lot of thought into the box that the set comes in. The lid of the box depicts animals playing with lively plants. The center has the words “Your Story” foil-pressed in gold.
When you close the cover of this box, you’ll see the design itself looks like a book. The spine is decorated with animals in gold-foil print.
The inside of the box illustrates the garden as well, making this box itself just like a miniature garden, which in Japanese is “haconiwa”, literally translating to“box garden.” You can store your 5-Year Techo and other favorite items and stationery in this box to create a special place just for yourself.
We hope that you will grow your 5-Year Techo like a miniature garden, piling up your precious memories, and that it will be as fruitful and rich as the flowers in the garden. It’s not just a great gift for friends, but also for yourself. Spend wonderful five years with this set.
*The embroidered cover is sold only as a set, and not sold separately.

In order to provide you with the most satisfaction for your product, we've compiled a list of warnings, potential issues, and tips to keep in mind for this particular product. Please be sure to read this information carefully before placing your order.
The Hobonichi Techo's Tomoe River paper is designed to prevent bleed-through, but some fountain pens and water-based ink pens are not compatible with this paper. When switching to a new pen, we recommend testing the pen somewhere in the book, such as the back memo pages, to see if the ink bleeds through or takes an especially long time to dry.
If you’ve used any of these products, we welcome your notes on what you like about them or what led you to buy them so we can share it with customers who are currently considering these products.
