Bow & TieSushiHON / A6 Size / Daily / ENG or JPN edition / Jan start / Mon start

  • 2025 New

The Bow & Tie series is covered with the same textured, shiny fabric used in neckties. The material has a beautiful gloss and is soft to the touch.

The Sushi pattern has many sushi lined up on a bright yellow cover. The pattern of the plates, which match the sushi items, is also expressed in detail with the necktie weave. The fabric used for neckties has a weave texture that is pleasant to the touch and has an appealing silky luster.

Tuna, salmon roe, shrimps, octopuses, horse mackerels, and eggs. The favorite sushi revolves one after another, creating a lively and happy pattern. The sea urchin sushi plate that appears here and there also has some “gari” pickled ginger on the side!

The book spine is foil-pressed in silver with the year 2025 and the HON logo for easy reference when placed in your bookshelf alongside other books.

The bookbinding on the HON has thread-stitch binding similar to the Hobonichi Techo Original, so it opens 180 degrees onto the table. It stays flat even if you don’t hold it down.

The book uses thin and light yet durable Tomoe River paper. This paper that underwent an overhaul with the 2024 edition techo is more resistant to bleed through, lighter despite being the same thickness, and has a smoother surface by adjusting the fibers of the paper.

The back of the book has bonus pages, including Sample Symbols and Icons, How to Have Fun Keeping a Diary, and Oodles of Noodles.

As a special exclusive only for the HON, this techo comes with a pencil board. The board is A6 size and clear, with 5mm grid lines printed across it. There are measurements printed along one side in 1mm increments, which allow for use as a ruler. It also has a pen holder attached to it where users can store pens by their clips.

The Hobonichi Techo HON comes in either English or Japanese. If you love this cover, then you can pick out which language you’d like in that book.

*Both the English and Japanese editions of the HON only come as January-start versions.

Cute Japanese motifs that delight users around the world

The Bow & Tie series, in which the necktie weave creates different patterns, comes in three patterns for the 2025 edition. The Weeks Mega books are available for the first time, in addition to the Weeks and HON. (The HON is only available in Snake Toy and Sushi)

The Snake Toy design featuring snakes is part of the Japanese zodiac sign series for the 2025 edition. We designed the snakes to pose in various ways, like the toy that can be transformed by rotating blocks. We sometimes add a “lucky charm” pattern in the sequential motif — in Snake Toy, you can find a gentleman snake in a silk hat smoking a pipe. All the snakes are adorable in their comical expressions.

Sushi was designed as a uniquely Japanese motif, considering that the Hobonichi Techo is used worldwide. You might enjoy the high-end sushi items on fine plates compared to the other ones. As a “lucky charm” for this design, we added some “gari” pickled ginger on the side of the sea urchin sushi plate. In this design, the diagonal line shown in the Bow & Tie series covers looks like a conveyor belt sushi lane.

The weave depicts the fine watercolor-like detail, including the shading on each fruit in the Cherry design. The sky-blue background makes the cherries seem to be growing freely in the sunlight. The branches that bore four cherries have cherry blossom flowers blooming, which is the “lucky charm” of this design. Please take a look at where they are once you receive your techo — each individual cover has different placements of the fruit!

The fact that such a detailed pattern can be achieved with the weaving technique of a necktie might one “Japan-like” aspect of this series. Whatever country or culture you are from, we hope you will choose your favorite from the Bow & Tie series, which now includes more patterns and types.

Please Read Before You Buy

In order to provide you with the most satisfaction for your product, we've compiled a list of warnings, potential issues, and tips to keep in mind for this particular product. Please be sure to read this information carefully before placing your order.

Test fountain pens before regular use

The Hobonichi Techo's Tomoe River paper is designed to prevent bleed-through, but some fountain pens and water-based ink pens are not compatible with this paper. When switching to a new pen, we recommend testing the pen somewhere in the book, such as the back memo pages, to see if the ink bleeds through or takes an especially long time to dry.

Pattern alignment varies by product

The patterned fabric has not been aligned to a specific layout, so the placement of each design will vary by product. The product will not be an exact replica of the one in the product photographs.

Use caution around sharp objects

The material in this product snags easily on sharp objects, so please handle with care.

Characteristics of materials and product design may result in white spots on the edges and corners of the front and back.

Characteristics of materials and product design may result in white spots on the edges and corners of the front and back. The corners of the cover contain light traces of press marks, shines, and lumps. This is an unavoidable part of the manufacturing process.

Cannot be used with a Hobonichi Techo Cover or Cover on Cover. Please use the Clear Cover for HON.

The cover of the HON book is thicker and firmer than that of the Hobonichi Techo book. It cannot be used with a Techo cover designed for the standard Hobonichi Techo book. The Cover on Cover designed for standard Hobonichi Techo covers also will not fit the HON. Please use the Clear Cover for HON. Please do not use excessive force when applying the cover as this may cause damage.

About the included pencil board

The pen hook on the pencil board can hold a pen by its clip.
