Arts&ScienceWax KipA6 Original Size

This cover is produced by Arts&Science, a brand and shop led by Sonya Park, who is also the creative director of the Hobonichi Techo Planner.

The leather used for this edition is thick kip leather tanned with vegetable tannin by a Japanese tannery. Dyeing is only applied to the surface, and beeswax is applied on top. The wax is applied by hand, allowing a thicker layer of wax, giving the leather a more dignified finish. The wax is finally pressed onto the surface with heat, adding intensity to the color and an elegant luster.

The cross-section is left uncut, leveraging the thickness. The cut creates a contrast, giving the material a greater sense of presence.

Inside the cover is a pocket where you can tuck in items you want to carry with your techo. There is a cutout in the lower left to hold thicker items. The front is stamped with the logos of Arts&Science and Hobonichi.

The belt is made of the same leather as the cover, fastened with a brass button stud. It has three holes so that you can arrange the fastening according to the thickness of your techo.

On the back of the belt is a subtle key logo. The white stitches add taste to the design.

It also includes a hook that can hold a pen by its clip.

The bookmark is designed using the same leather as the cover.

You will be able to enjoy the original texture of the material for a long time since the leather does not change much with age.

*How the leather ages will differ based on usage, time, and its environment.

This high-quality cover was sewn in Japan with care. Please enjoy the feel and the changes the wax processing brings.

*The daily pages of the Planner include a quote in English per two-page spread specially chosen from its parent site, the Japanese web magazine Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun, and words of Arts&Science owner Sonya Park. You will be able to enjoy it as a techo book to read.

The Hobonichi Techo leather covers are made with all-natural materials that have their own unique appearance. Every leather cover is a one-of-a-kind, all-natural product, so you can feel good knowing your cover is the only one like it in the world. Here are some of the unique characteristics you can expect to find.

    - Markings that naturally occur during an animal’s life:

    Wrinkles, veins, texture, and scratches

    - Characteristics from the manufacturing process of natural leather:

Dark spots (occurs when components of the leather are exposed to iron in the air during the tanning and dyeing process)

*This product is also available in Italian cow leather, exclusively at Arts&Science locations.

Basic and attractive at the same time

We created a smart and cool techo cover meticulously crafted to the smallest detail.

At first glance, it looks simple, but the details are intricate, such as the thick leather with a visible brown cross-section, the gold brass button stud, and the white stitching on the back of the belt. The elegance of the leather’s glossy finish and the gentle coloring, which is black but not too profound, make this a stunning techo cover.

It feels so good that the Planner fits perfectly inside. The cover is only complete when you put your techo in it.

It is a basic but sophisticated and attractive cover that you will want to use for years to come.
