Masamune Kusano x junaidaBook - Himitsu Stranger

  • 2025 New

Artist junaida illustrated the lyrical stories for each of the 13 songs that were recorded by Masamune Kusano for the music album “Himitsu Studio” by his rock band Spitz. The array of strange creatures and characters that appear in the story were drawn in response to Kusano’s suggestion to draw them in a deformed style.

Expressing Masamune Kusano’s lyrics through painting was the initial idea that led junaida to draw each story without listening to the music, just associating them with the lyrics. That is how the 13 stories were born. This book is a fusion of lyrics and music, pictures and stories, and where you can encounter new and exciting things you have never seen.

Inside are two types of drawings: pencil drawings that allow you to feel the momentum of the shapes and lines more deeply with the initial impulse and watercolor drawings that colorfully express the worlds of the songs.

Please enjoy this rich and expansive book that allows you to go back and forth between the two worlds: the world spun by Masamune Kusano’s lyrics and the illustrated stories created by junaida.
