HobonichiFireside Chat Notebook (B7 Size)Blank / Graph / Dot Grid / Lined

  • 2025 New

Quotes by Safety Match are often featured as daily quotes in our techo. You may have seen it printed on the box that we deliver the Hobonichi Techo in.

These quotes are like a proverb, a soliloquy, philosophical, poetic, allegorical… It’s rumored that these short phrases with a mysterious charm are from a book that only Shigesato Itoi has hidden away, but as a mystery since the first issue of “Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun,” nothing more has been revealed about it. We wonder who it actually is?

This B7 size notebook incorporates motifs based on the words of Safety Match.

There are four types: Graph, Lined, Dot Grid and Blank. They each have different quotes printed on them.

The pages on the inside not only have different lines but have designs linked to the quote.

This is the quote we selected for the Graph notebook.

A calendar is filled with numbers.

Days that have passed, and days still to come.

It’s funny. Of all of them, the only one we are living is today.

The only day we can reach out and touch is today.

To go with the theme of today, we printed the words “today” on the corner of the pages. This design is perfect for writing about your daily occurences.

The pages have a 5mm graph paper printed in green, and the cover is a pale gray.

The Lined notebook is designed using the following quote as a motif.

You write. You draw.

As you move your hand, the lines start to run.

And with the lines, your mind runs free.

So, writing by hand is like sending your mind on a journey, see?

Some of the ruled lines are rounded or uneven as if written by hand. This design will catch your eye as you write and will add to the enjoyment of writing.

The lines are printed 7mm apart in blue, and the cover is a pale salmon pink.

The Dot Grid design is based on the following quote.

People’s eyes are fascinating things.

Up close, you can see the end of your nose, or the tips of your fingernails.

In the distance you can see the horizon, or even as far as the moon and the stars.

Ugly things, beautiful things, sometimes even hidden things.

You can see all that with the same pair of eyes.

Look closely and you’ll spot a star and moon within the dots. This design is fun to look at.

The dots on the pages are 5mm apart and printed in blue gray. The cover is a pale blue.

Blank is based on the following quote.

What you said, just now.

Try turning up the corners of your mouth, and smiling as you say it.

See? Isn’t that better?

The theme is “smile.” The smiley face on the corner of the pages will bring a smile to your face.

The cover is a bright yellow, and the smile picture is printed in light blue.

These notebooks are made with Tomoe River paper. While it is only 3mm thick, it has 80 pages so you’ll be able to write plenty.

It’s made with stitch binding and the color of the thread is chosen for each front cover and acts as an accent.

The B7 size perfectly fits the A6 Original size cover. These notebooks also comes in B6 size that fits perfectly in the A5 Cousin size cover.

You can use it to write about daily events and ideas, or you can gift it as a set of four to someone special. We hope you use these notebooks in your own playful way.

Please Read Before You Buy

In order to provide you with the most satisfaction for your product, we've compiled a list of warnings, potential issues, and tips to keep in mind for this particular product. Please be sure to read this information carefully before placing your order.

Test fountain pens before regular use

The Hobonichi Techo's Tomoe River paper is designed to prevent bleed-through, but some fountain pens and water-based ink pens are not compatible with this paper. When switching to a new pen, we recommend testing the pen somewhere in the book, such as the back memo pages, to see if the ink bleeds through or takes an especially long time to dry.
