We all had a wonderful time at the Fujiko F. Fujio Museum and were so grateful for the opportunity. We’ll do our best to create things that are beloved for generations, just like Doraemon.

Today we stopped by the Fujiko F. Fujio Museum in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Our visit had quite a striking start, with a recital by Gian, or “Big G,” as featured in one of the show’s episodes.

Here’s what connects Hobonichi with Fujio Productions: the hit Doraemon techo cover series from the 2019 lineup. We’ve also created museum-exclusive Doraemon Weeks books since 2018.

We began our visit by offering our thank-you box of cookies to Fujio Productions President Ito, who is also the director of the museum.

Museum staffers Miyano, Yoshida, and Ikeda joined us today in our meeting.

President Ito shared lots of fascinating stories with us about when the museum was first built. The museum was made possible because of the help of Fujio’s wife, who was still alive. Itoi was impressed at what can come from the dedication of a single person.

We met the designers of the museum-exclusive Doraemon Weeks books and were delighted to hear they use the Hobonichi Techo every year.

After we had a nice talk together, the staff showed us around the museum. Itoi had a great time looking at each and every detail of the exhibits.

Itoi: When I was in high school, I actually had the opportunity to visit Fujio’s studio. I even received a colored drawing.
Itoi reminisced back on those years as he studied the timeline.

The museum has many interesting exhibits, and one is a recreation of the studio where Fujio worked.

The museum also features a section where Nobita and Doraemon show visitors how to draw a cartoon. There were so many delightful things to see that visitors could spend an entire day here.

Lots of draft illustrations were on display.

The roof of the museum featured a refreshing space called “Harappa.” Even though we visited on a weekday, the museum was filled with happy visitors.

We stopped by the museum cafe. Itoi had a juice designed after Doraemon and impersonated the character. We had a great time at the cafe, too.

We made our last stop at the museum shop and got a kick out of everything in the shop.
