This Hobonichi Techo cover was created in collaboration with art director Naomi Hirabayashi. It has a commanding presence, and has taken cues from a travel wallet in its design. The cover returns after a successful appearance in the 2017 lineup, this time in a smooth, black leather and in the A5 Cousin size for the first time. Its sleek, clever look provides a beautiful atmosphere when kept atop a desk.
The shape has been simplified into a rectangle with no prints or labels on the outside so as to accentuate the beauty of the leather itself.
The dip in the spine of the cover acts as a pen holder and provides a place to hang a pen by its clip.
The cover interior includes many pockets and features English labels printed in gold. The labels read “Driving License,” “Insurance Card,” “Credit Cards,” “Business Cards,” “Documents,” “Tickets,” and “Bills,” with “Hobonichi Techo” printed on the edge.
This simple and durable cover is filled with charm and makes a great tool for everyday life, not to mention an excellent travel companion.
About Naomi Hirabayashi
Born in Tokyo. Joined Shiseido after graduating Musashino Art University with a degree in Design. Spent a year in London design studio MadeThought in 2002 and after returning to Japan embarked on a freelance career in Art Direction and Graphic Design in 2005. Main products include art direction for companies (marunouchi) HOUSE, la kagu, and UNITED ARROWS. Designed packaging for HOPE and NTT DOCOMO, and designed CD jackets for Yano Akiko, Hikaru Utada, DREAMS COME TRUE, and more. Provided art direction for magazine Ginza. Won many awards for her work, including the JAGDA New Designer Award, the ADC Award, the NY ADC Gold award, the British D&AD award, and more.

In order to provide you with the most satisfaction for your product, we've compiled a list of warnings, potential issues, and tips to keep in mind for this particular product. Please be sure to read this information carefully before placing your order.
- All covers are hand-made and may contain slight variances
Each and every cover is individually sewn by a factory worker hand-operating a sewing machine. Best efforts are made to ensure consistent sizes and specifications, but there may be slight differences.
- Leather coloring stains
Dyed leather products tend to leave stains. Please be careful not to allow the leather to adhere or rub against other objects such as clothing or other belongings, especially if the cover is wet from water or sweat from your hands.
- Glossy leather does not age like tanned leather
Unlike tanned leather, glossy leather does not visibly age and change over time.
- Immediately dry the product if it gets wet
Immediately dab the product with a dry cloth if it gets wet. Avoid
drying it with high temperatures, and place it in a well-ventilated
place in the shade.- Avoid storing in hot and humid places
Please avoid storing your cover in hot, humid places or placing it atop other objects for long periods of time as this may result in lower product quality and color stains. Please use caution when storing.
- The cover does not shut tightly
The cover does not shut tightly while it is new, but it will wear in over time.
- Card pocket width is business-card-sized
The card pockets inside the cover are sized to perfectly fit standard-size business cards (55 mm wide). The pockets may be slightly rigid and difficult to use at first, but this will soften over time.
- Markings show up easily on delicate leather
This product uses delicate leather that is easily scratched. Fingerprints and oils also show up on the leather, so when cleaning the cover, please wipe gently with a soft cloth.
- Foil stamped areas may peel
The foil stamping in the interior of the cover may begin to peel over continued use. Please do not scratch.
- Color may vary slightly based on viewing screen
The color of the product may be slightly different in actuality than compared to how it appeared on a computer or smartphone screen.
- Interior of cover may be loose
The interior of the cover may not be perfectly taut due to limitations during the manufacturing process.
