Taro OkamotoThe Myth of TomorrowA6 Size (fits Hobonichi Planner and Hobonichi Techo Original)

This cover features an all-over print of Taro Okamoto's painting entitled "The Myth of Tomorrow." This piece, originally a wall mural, depicts the moment of the atomic bomb explosion in Japan during WWII. Taro Okamoto's partner, Toshiko Okamoto, says about the painting, "At the moment the bomb dropped and exploded with ghastly power, the pride of humankind, not to be outdone, burned passionately with stronger force. Can't paint a picture like this if you're not Taro Okamoto!" The primary colors in the large-scale painting contain an energy that can overcome anything, and that overpowering energy fills the hearts of those who look at the piece. The interior of the cover is a fiery red. This cover is good to keep on hand for those who want to live their year filled with the fiery passion of life.

*Please note that this cover does not contain a back pocket. Likewise, the Cover on Cover which comes with this cover as a web shop bonus does not have an opening in the back either.

    "The Myth of Tomorrow"
A 98-foot long mural painting which was to be displayed across the lobby wall of a hotel in Mexico. Near the completion of the building, the hotel itself went out of business, and the mural went missing for decades. In 2003, the piece was discovered in the suburbs of Mexico City and brought back to Japan to be restored to its former glory of 37 years earlier, thanks to the great deal of help from many people and organizations. Today, the mural is on display in the walkway connecting Tokyo and Shibuya Station, where over 300,000 people pass daily.

This design is also available here in the larger A5 size for the Hobonichi Techo Cousin.
Also available by Taro Okamoto is the Tower of the Sun cover in the same A6 Hobonichi Techo Original/Planner size.

      Please Read Before You Buy

In order to provide you with the most satisfaction for your product, we've compiled a list of warnings, potential issues, and tips to keep in mind for this particular product. Please be sure to read this information carefully before placing your order.

All covers are hand-made and may contain slight variances

Each and every cover is individually sewn by a factory worker hand-operating a sewing machine. Best efforts are made to ensure consistent sizes and specifications, but as these products are hand-made, covers are not made as exact copies.

      No outer pocket

This cover does not contain an outer pocket.

Avoid exposing Cover on Cover to cold temperatures

The PVC plastic of the Cover on Cover may lose elasticity and become difficult to put on when left in cold temperatures. If this happens, we recommend letting the product sit in a warm area before applying to your cover. Please be careful when handling your Cover on Cover in cold temperatures, as it becomes more susceptible to damages if dropped or handled roughly.

      White spots around stitching

The design is printed over white material, so the sewing process may expose white areas around the stitches.

Color may vary slightly between cover and pockets

The material for the pockets is printed or dyed separately and later sewn onto the cover. While colors are designed to be consistent across the entire cover, the shade of the pockets may vary slightly from the rest of the cover.

Sliding no-slip pens into the pen holder

Pens with rubber, non-slip grips may be difficult to slide into the pen holder.

Maximum pen width of 13.5mm for pen holder

Pens with certain shapes and materials may be difficult to pull through the holder. The holder can fit pens up to 13.5mm (0.53") in diameter.
