Makoto Kagoshima Cat TrioA5 Size (fits Cousin)
This cover was created in collaboration with Makoto Kagoshima, a versatile ceramic artist who works with a variety of art mediums, including containers, drawings, paintings, sculptures, cloth products, and more.
Kagoshima, who designed thissilk screen print over soft, high-quality linen, named the cover “Cat Trio.” Three gray cats are drawn among a variety of eight beautifully-arranged flowers that come in bright yellow, orange, blue-green, and peach. The print is applied in a way thatvery slightly raises it from the surface, making it delightful to the touch, as well.
The two bookmarks are orange and blue-green ribbons that have been trimmed diagonally at the tips. Inside the cover is inscribed “Makoto Kagoshima.”
About Makoto Kagoshima
Ceramic artist working with a variety of mediums including pottery, fabrics, paintings, and more. Actively creates many works of art, with most featuring lovely themes like plants and animals. Recently held art exhibitions in L.A., Taiwan, and London,with a growing fan base both in and out of Japan.

In order to provide you with the most satisfaction for your product, we've compiled a list of warnings, potential issues, and tips to keep in mind for this particular product. Please be sure to read this information carefully before placing your order.
- All covers are hand-made and may contain slight variances
Each and every cover is individually sewn by a factory worker hand-operating a sewing machine. Best efforts are made to ensure consistent sizes and specifications, but there may be slight differences.
- Interior of cover may be loose
The interior of the cover may not be perfectly taut due to limitations during the manufacturing process.
- Linen threads may have uneven thickness or naps
This cover is made with 100% linen, so the threads may naturally have uneven thickness or contain some naps/knots.
- Silk screen print may peel over time
The cover pattern is printed using silk screen printing, which means the pattern may peel off over time. Please avoid rubbing the pattern and do not store it in sunlight for prolonged periods of time.
- Ends of bookmarks may fray
The bookmark strings have only been heat-treated at the tips after being cut, so they may begin to fray over time.
- Sliding no-slip pens into the pen holder
Pens with rubber, non-slip grips may be difficult to slide into the pen holder.
- Maximum pen width of 13.5mm for pen holder
The pen holder is designed to perfectly fit the 12.2mm (0.48”) diameter Jetstream pen offered as a free bonus gift with select Japanese-version Hobonichi Web Shop products. Pens with certain shapes and materials may be difficult to pull through the holder. The holder can fit pens up to 13.5mm (0.53”) in diameter.
- “Cover Only” price change
Due to an increase in material costs and other unavoidable factors, starting with the 2017-edition, it has become difficult to maintain the usual price of our Colors and Faux Fabric covers. In order to maintain the price of the covers, we will be offering these covers at the usual price when bought as a set with the Hobonichi Techo book. We apologize for the trouble, but when ordering the cover without a book, we will not be able to keep that price, so Cover Only orders will cost slightly more. Please add to your cart as a “Book & Cover set” to keep the cover’s lower price.
- Color may vary slightly based on viewing screen
The color of the product may be slightly different in actuality than compared to how it appeared on a computer or smartphone screen.
- Threads may protrude from pen holder base
Due to the nature of manufacturing and materials used, threads may inevitably protrude from the point of attachment of the pen holder to the rest of the cover.
- Avoid using with Cover on Cover
The images printed on the cover may transfer onto a Cover on Cover. Please avoid using this cover with a Cover on Cover.
