minä perhonen creates all-original textiles that are specially dyed, embroidered and woven to recreate designs that were originally hand-drawn.
In “imagine,” animals are playing and resting among a variety of blooming trees and plants, giving the design a dreamy, mysterious setting.
The charm in this design comes from the light, fountain-pen feel of the art, which was drawn on a whim without planning anything out beforehand. The dark navy cover material is made of cotton.
The beige faux leather interior and pen holders are accented with beaded lace bookmarks.
About minä perhonen
minä perhonen is a fashion brand created by desinger Akira Minagawa.
First founded in 1995 under the name minä. Opened the first shop in Shirokanedai, Tokyo in 2000, and renamed the brand name to "minä perhonen" in 2003.
In Finnish, “minä” means “I,” and “perhonen”means“butterfly,”expressing Minagawa’s hopes to create designs as light-hearted and beautiful as the flapping wings of a butterfly.
Opened a total of 9 shops across Japan. In 2016, opened new locations in Daikanyama, in the Spiral building in Aoyama,Tokyo,and in Kanazawa.

- All covers are hand-made and may contain slight variances
Each and every cover is individually sewn by a factory worker hand-operating a sewing machine. Best efforts are made to ensure consistent sizes and specifications, but there may be slight differences.
- Exterior print may include blurs or other variances
This product uses hand-printing and resist-printing methods that may include blurs, specks, and other imperfections in the print.
- Design may contain smudges or uneven coloring
During the print process, patterns may contain spots where the color has become smudged or uneven.
- Coloring may stain other objects
The dye in the cover may stain other objects if it rubs against or sticks to them, especially if the cover is wet from water or sweat from your hands. Please store with care.
- Cover may attract dust
The cover exterior contains a raised-nap finish that may attract dust or other particles. You can use a lint roller to clean the cover, but be sure to avoid using tape with excessively strong adhesive as this may damage the material.
- Lace bookmarks may contain frays
The bookmarks of this cover use original mina perhonen lace straps. If you see any loose threads, we recommend refraining from pulling on it and instead tucking it between other woven threads.
- Maximum pen width of 13.5mm for pen holder
The pen holder is designed to perfectly fit the 12.2mm (0.48”) diameter Jetstream pen offered as a free bonus gift with select Japanese-version Hobonichi Web Shop products. Pens with certain shapes and materials may be difficult to pull through the holder. The holder can fit pens up to 13.5mm (0.53”) in diameter.
- Inquiries about the minä perhonen collaboration covers
These Hobonichi Techo cover designs were directed by minä perhonen, but produced by Hobonichi. Inquiries about these covers cannot be answered at minä perhonen shop locations, so please contact the Hobonichi Store with any questions or concerns.
- Avoid using with Cover on Cover
This cover uses thicker materials than usual, so it may not fit. Forcing it into a Cover on Cover may damage the products.
- Color may vary slightly based on viewing screen
The color of the product may be slightly different in actuality than compared to how it appeared on a computer or smartphone screen.
- Interior of cover may be loose
The interior of the cover may not be perfectly taut due to limitations during the manufacturing process.
