Michio HoshinoHarp Seal PupA6 Size (fits Planner and Original)
This cover showcases a piece by nature photographer Michio Hoshino (1952 - 1996), famous for his photographs of wildlife and everyday life in Alaska. The cute pup may be a precious baby, but you can feel the power behind the small body to survive in the great, harsh wilderness.
We’ve painstakingly poured our efforts into the details of the print when creating the covers, paying careful attention to the sparkle of his eyes and the texture of his fluff and the snow.
The interior and pen holders are made of white leather to evoke the image of a vast, snowy tundra. Michio Hoshino’s signature is also printed on the interior pocket.
Because this cover uses an all-over print, there is no exterior pocket on the back of the cover.
*A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Japanese animal rescue shelter Rencontrer Mignon.
About Michio Hoshino
Photographer born 1952 in Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture.
Entered the Keio University Faculty of Economics and joined the Exploration Club.
Spent a summer living together with an Eskimo family in Shishmaref, Alaska in 1973.
After graduating,spent two years as an apprentice to top nature photographer Kojo Tanaka.
In 1978, entered the University of Alaska's College of Natural Sciences.
Killed by a brown bear while on assignment in Kamchatka, Russia in 1996.
Received the 15th KimuraIhei Award in for his photography.
Ranked as a Special Prize Winner by the Photographic Society of Japan.
Published the essay book “The Traveling Tree” and photography collection books such as “Arctic Odyssey: A Distant Northern Memory.”

In order to provide you with the most satisfaction for your product, we've compiled a list of warnings, potential issues, and tips to keep in mind for this particular product. Please be sure to read this information carefully before placing your order.
- All covers are hand-made and may contain slight variances
Each and every cover is individually sewn by a factory worker hand-operating a sewing machine. Best efforts are made to ensure consistent sizes and specifications, but there may be slight differences.
- Silk printed image may peel off over time
The logo inside the cover is silk-printed onto the cover’s material. This delicate print may peel or come off with daily use. If using a Cover on Cover, the silk print may stick to the plastic and eventually come off with it from the constant contact.
- No outer pocket
This cover does not contain an outer pocket.
- Design may contain smudges or uneven coloring
During the print process, patterns may contain spots where the color has become smudged or uneven.
- Black or white dots on the cover
On rare occasions, there may be small black or white dots visible on the cover. This is an unavoidable aspect of the manufacturing process.
- Color may vary slightly between cover and pockets
The material for each part of the cover is printed or dyed separately. While colors are designed to be consistent across the entire cover, the shade may vary slightly.
- Interior of cover may be loose
The interior of the cover may not be perfectly taut due to limitations during the manufacturing process.
- Stitching may be slightly curved or bumpy.
Stitching may be slightly curved or bumpy as a result of sewing together materials of various thicknesses.
- Pen holders are rigid at first
The pen holders are rigid at first, making it difficult to insert pens. You can speed up the breaking-in process by rolling the pen holders in your hand.
- Sliding no-slip pens into the pen holder
Pens with rubber, non-slip grips may be difficult to slide into the pen holder.
- Maximum pen width of 13.5mm for pen holder
The pen holder is designed to perfectly fit the 12.2mm (0.48”) diameter Jetstream pen offered as a free bonus gift with select Japanese-version Hobonichi Web Shop products. Pens with certain shapes and materials may be difficult to pull through the holder. The holder can fit pens up to 13.5mm (0.53”) in diameter.
- Avoid using with Cover on Cover
This cover uses thicker materials than usual, so it may not fit. Forcing it into a Cover on Cover may damage the products.
- “Cover Only” price change
Due to an increase in material costs and other unavoidable factors, starting with the 2017-edition, it has become difficult to maintain the usual price of our Colors and Faux Fabric covers. In order to maintain the price of the covers, we will be offering these covers at the usual price when bought as a set with the Hobonichi Techo book. We apologize for the trouble, but when ordering the cover without a book, we will not be able to keep that price, so Cover Only orders will cost slightly more. Please add to your cart as a “Book & Cover set” to keep the cover’s lower price.

The color of the product may be slightly different in actuality than compared to how it appeared on a computer or smartphone screen.
