This cover features a photograph of “kind cat” Po, an overnight celebrity from his cameo in Kaoru Fukaya’s hit comic, “The Cat that Wanders the Night.”

One day, news cameraman Yasusuke Ota spotted a cat in a nearby park. When he fed the cats there, the one cat waited politely for all other cats to finish eating before approaching the food. The cat was filthy, and teased often. Ota named the cat Po and watched over him. Ota’s growing concern eventually led him to bring Po home. The cats already in the home fought Po at first, but he never fought back. This led the other cats to open their hearts to Po, and they all grew close. Po even cared for other foster cats that joined their home. Of all the cats Ota has met and cared for, Po will always have a special place in his heart.
With this techo cover, you can keep Po by your side and always feel the warmth of this kind cat.

The front cover features a photo of Po with his eyes closed for an expression brimming with the cat’s gentleness. The back of the cover has a photo of Po looking back at the sound of his name being called.

When Ota and his wife brought Po to the local Trap / Neuter / Return program, Ota’s wife gave Po a green tag with his name on it. This cover has a tag with the same green color.

About Yasusuke Ota

Yasusuke Ota ran a popular blog “Uchi no Toramaru” about his foster cats Tora and Maru. In 2009, he became interested in the feral cats in his neighborhood and met Po. Po was featured in Kaoru Fukaya’s hit comic, “The Cat that Wanders the Night,” and became an overnight sensation. In 2017, the stories of “Kind Cat” Po were published as a book.

All covers are hand-made and may contain slight variances: Each and every cover is individually sewn by a factory worker hand-operating a sewing machine. Best efforts are made to ensure consistent sizes and specifications, but there may be slight differences.
Silk printed image may peel off over time: The logo and illustrations inside the cover are silk-printed onto the cover’s material. This delicate print may peel or come off with daily use. If using a Cover on Cover, the silk print may stick to the plastic and eventually come off with it from the constant contact.
Design may contain smudges or uneven coloring: During the print process, patterns may contain spots where the color has become smudged or uneven.
White spots around stitching: The design is printed over white material, so the sewing process may expose white areas around the stitches.
Black or white dots on the cover: On rare occasions, there may be small black or white dots visible on the cover. This is an unavoidable aspect of the manufacturing process.
Color may vary slightly between cover and pockets: The material for each part of the cover is printed or dyed separately. While colors are designed to be consistent across the entire cover, the shade may vary slightly.
Interior of cover may be loose: The interior of the cover may not be perfectly taut due to limitations during the manufacturing process.
Stitching may be slightly curved or bumpy.: Stitching may be slightly curved or bumpy as a result of sewing together materials of various thicknesses.
Pen holders are rigid at first: The pen holders are rigid at first, making it difficult to insert pens. You can speed up the breaking-in process by rolling the pen holders in your hand.
Sliding no-slip pens into the pen holder: Pens with rubber, non-slip grips may be difficult to slide into the pen holder.
Avoid exposing Cover on Cover to cold temperatures: The PVC plastic of the Cover on Cover may lose elasticity and become difficult to put on when left in cold temperatures. If this happens, we recommend letting the product sit in a warm area before applying to your cover. Please be careful when handling your Cover on Cover in cold temperatures, as it becomes more susceptible to damages if dropped or handled roughly.
“Cover Only” price change: Due to an increase in material costs and other unavoidable factors, starting with the 2017-edition, it has become difficult to maintain the usual price of our Colors and Faux Fabric covers. In order to maintain the price of the covers, we will be offering these covers at the usual price when bought as a set with the Hobonichi Techo book. We apologize for the trouble, but when ordering the cover without a book, we will not be able to keep that price, so Cover Only orders will cost slightly more. Please add to your cart as a “Book & Cover set” to keep the cover’s lower price.
